People Against Rape (PAR) was founded in 1974. In September 1975, we officially opened our doors as one of the first rape crisis centers in South Carolina.
Through the years, PAR has grown and we now offer free confidential services to adult survivors of sexual assault in Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties of South Carolina. Our services include a 24-hour hotline, hospital accompaniment during Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFE), police and law enforcement accompaniment, court accompaniment, follow-up services, as well as support groups. To learn more about any of our direct services call our hotline anytime 24/7 at 843-745-0144.
We have also expanded our education department to teach sexual assault prevention in high schools, colleges, medical facilities, churches, and other community locations. To learn more about PARs trainings and educational programs see our presentations page.
